It is "K" week
Hey let's get KINKY!!!

Where do we come up with these words?  I don't know. I often ponder the originals of such words. Mostly those was the derogatory slang genre, or the words that seem to be non-words.
Examples: Dip$hit...where did it come from?  how about A$$hat...I have never seen an "A$$" wear a Hat...of course I am talking about someone's Gluteus Maximus wearing a hat...I have seen many people that I consider to be A$$ES wearing a hat...is that where it came from? and...how did people become known as A$$es, and the double  dig a DUMBA$$, then there is JERKS, Wackos, Kooks, and a personal fav...Cold Fish...but that falls into an area listed below. (real words used for something else) Stuffed Shirt, Mouthpiece (for an attorney)

I used to think Sheep Dip was something someone made up in the early 1980's, then I come to find out there is or at least was a special "bath" that sheep were put into, that was called Sheep dip.
I wonder if some early thug or hipster, decided to turn the words around...dip sheep---and said to themselves HA, Sheep can be replaced with $hit...Dip $hit?  While we are at it, where did the word $hit come from?  or A$$?...then there is Poop, doody, Caca, or kaka, Stool (real word used for something else)
I don't know, do you?  I feel like a Poopyhead, and a Dumba$$ for not knowing these things!

there are so many, it is Hinky! There's another Hinky...Hinky, kinky, funky, chunky, groovy, sleazy, gnarly, nerd, dork, geek...I won't even go down the KINKY list of words for some body parts...
you all know what I mean.
I am a female, and I love cats...but I do NOT get THE connection, do you?
There is another animal name used for the same thing.  Also a shrubbery, and a mollusk...
I do not like that one, but at least these are both better than some of the other words used for the same thing.
How did the surname Johnson come to mean a body part? Or the nick name for Richard, and HOW did they come up with THAT nick name for Richard????

How about words that ARE REALLY words, but used for things that they aren't.
Perhaps, you would like to ponder the word mug...a container, something to drink out of...so then why do we refer to someone's face as a MUG, as in "your ugly mug, or mug shot"
Eyes get referred to as peepers, and other things. My peepers need help, so I wear CHEATERS! (now it is even MORE fun as I have a couple of types of cheaters)

Getting back to Gluteus Maximus (and minimus, and there is another)
--backside, behind, butt, A$$, derriere, buttocks, bum, cheeks (hey don't we have them on our face?---I do not want my A$$ on my face, do you?)

Then there is Toilet...not sure where that word came from...but we all know it, how about some of the other words used as substitution...
John (a guy's name, really?)...throne, pot, potty, loo, latrine, head (that one is just terrific, isn't it...I mean seriously, we all have a head. Would you like someone to do what they do on a toilet on your head?)

so let's see If can shed some light.

This is awesome! I love words, especially those kinds that you've described here. I think they are fabulous and can be morphed in oh so many ways! Now when you talked about toilet & it being called a head & asking if you'd want people to do what they do in a toilet on your head.... do you think that's where shit head came from??? LOL

My brother and I have often discussed the weird words, or the weird ways words are used.

And I don't get the cat connection either; nor how that particular nickname was created for Richard. And, speaking of nicknames, how is Jack short for John? That one's always bothered me; they sound different and have the same number of letters.

I swear sometimes people just pick the first word that comes in to their head when they invent or discover something and if they're the first person to do so who speaks the language they do then everyone else adopts the word so that they don't have to come up with one of their own.

It's like "Sky"... Did you know it was once a Norse word spelled S-K-I-E, I believe, and meaning "clouds"... My guess with that one is that someone who wasn't a Norsman/woman was nearby when one pointed up to the clouds saying, "skie" and - not having their own word for the sky - they adopted the word, deciding it couldn't be "cloud" because that already had a name.
