Operation Write home Independence day Blog tour day #2

Hello there!! Welcome to day #2.  Today I have 2 cards for you, one is a bit different and there will be a basic tutorial. :)  BUT FIRST....the CANDY!! here some pics:

adorable little metal pails

Filled with wonderful goodies!
All the same, and there is more that is NOT in the photo...one pail goes to a winning comment per day.  All drawing will take place on Monday evening, winners announced on Monday night.

 Now for something relevant!

Ok, now onto the cards:
A little blurry, sorry.  Here is the how.

I made this triangle card to fit a regular mailing envelope, they can be made bigger for the business size envelope.  Take an 8.5 X 11 inch card stock and cut it to   10 1/4 X 5 7/8
Then you put the one long corner in the end of your trimmer and you are going to cut the card on an angle so that there will be a squared off edge. You are not cutting a true Triangle. (your scrap will be a triangle :) )

Now you will need to score this card stock 3 3/8 inches in from each end. The purpose of doing it in from each end, is so the scores will be in the opposite direction.

NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT... a small video for the next step, my daughter was experimenting with my camera, and you will hear her and see her, and she even says you should do this on my laptop. (now she tells me)  OK...here we go:

We will now resume our normally scheduled program:

Here is the now finished card base, the kraft paper on the one side and the Americana style American flag on the other.
Start your stamping, remember to see what is going to show and where.

Stamp and ink as you desire:

Stipple brush (dry).  Pounce the brush up and down, adding more ink to brush as you go.

and here is the finished card, the pictures all came out blurry, I tried several ways, the stand, the frog, and standing on it's own. It didn't matter. I apologize for that.  You'll notice I added ribbons using my Fastenator
and gold fastenator sculpted staples.

Today's funny 4th of July tale:  setting off firecrackers (shhh, I wasn't actually allowed)When I was 14, a handful of us(friends and I) were outside.  I was wearing those old big Denim painters pants that were totally in style back then. (1974) One of my friends lit a firecracker and put it in one of the back pockets.  I was trying to grab it to remove it without burning myself, but before I could get a grip on the firecracker itself and not the fuse, it went off...a very small pop-like boom.  No hole in my pocket or anything, I was like wow, that was cool!  so later at dinner I was telling my family about it. (thinking it would show them how they were actually harmless)  My sister and her girls were up (her hubby was working) and my brother was down, so it was the whole gang.  My father was like you shouldn't have let them do it, my brother was like what kind of friend is that. My mother was really freaked and said you could have blown off part of your butt.  My answer to that was NO, these jeans are SANFORIZED, that protected me!!  well first my sister started cracking up, and then followed everyone else. Then I cried.  My plan to prove that firecrackers are harmless failed badly, and then I was shamed and humiliated, plus, I had obviously not the correct definition of the word sanforized in my mind.  I later looked it up...it means: A trademark used for fabric preshrunk by a patented mechanical process so as to minimize later shrinkage.  I was so defeated, and when undressing later I did find a tiny, tiny burn on the inside of the pocket (the part of the jeans that touch your butt) and teeny, teeny blister on my butt.  so they weren't harmless.

Here is another Birthday card I made for today:

Every thing for this card is from Stampin' Up except for the ribbons (my stash) and the square snaps (We Are Memory Keepers) and the punch (Martha Stewart)

Fun card--thanks for the directions! (And I hope your fireworks misadventure didn't leave any permanent scars--other than the endless ribbing you must take from the family each July 4th. . . .)

Hi Susan! Glad to see your working hard on your cards even with all of the work you're doing on the house! I had just cut that same card out the other day after seeing iy on youtube (or somewhere...blonde roots at the moment!). Anyhoo, I love how yours turned out even with the blurry pics! Have you tried using the macro setting when you take closeups like this? It's usually a tulip shaped icon on the camera if you don't know what it is. Great for closeups! Talk to you soon!
