Welcome...OPERATION WRITE HOME BLOG HOP

Hi there and Welcome to the Memorial Day weekend
Blog Hop!!

You should have arrived here from(newly edited, we have a fallen OWHomer):
The OWH Blog Hop starts Here:

When you leave here, you'll head over to:
I'd like to direct you to my play list at the very bottom of this blog. There is significance in the reason I ask. The first song is called HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN by Darryl Worley and the second song is THE DANCE(Attack on America remix) by Garth Brooks.  I believe these songs...especially the first says a lot about how complacent a lot of Americans have become  about 9/11.  If you prefer to not hear it, but to see the lyrics:  Have You Forgotten

I have made 2 cards for today...One is Love you/miss you

this is an off center gate-fold card

not a great pic, but it shows it's open
Digi image by Stretch n Bubbles, sentiment by Sunday Sentiments, CS-Stampin' Up, DP by Michele Anderson "Pathways-Americana"
Ribbon and brads

and the other is WHY, as inFREEDOM is NOT FREE!...this one is dedicated to all the veterans in my family alive and passed on and to veterans the world over. Additionally to ALL the heroes...Police, Firemen, Paramedics etc.

This is a limited edition stamp from Club scrap, of that famous photo of the firemen at ground zero, the other stamp is from Stampin' Up, The corners were rec'd as a rak (handmade corners of ribbon), border and corner punch-Stampin up, CS-Stampin' Up, DP by Michele Anderson "Pathways-Americana"

Inside right, sentiment(digi) Sunday Sentiments

I hope you like them :)

I would love it if any late visitors left comments. BUT as posted below...cut-off time for the blog candy was 9pm tonight (Mon. 5/31) EST.

Now for the fun stuff!  I have a very PATRIOTIC BLOG CANDY for ONE OWH PARTICIPANT/HOPPER; here it is:
Patriotic reusable shopping bag, Patriotic fleece lap throw (perfect when sitting creating for long periods of time), The latest issue of Card maker Magazine.

25 card bases and envelopes, with 25 + backgrounds, stamped, embossed and DP and 25 + stamped images--some with sentiments.

BNIP Embellishments; including 3D stickers, sparkle stickers, brads, ribbons, then some mixed embellishments,  and lace.

Additionally, I am giving away up to 5*--6 X 9 envelopes stuffed with card making or collage goodies to regular blog hoppers that are NOT OWH participants. * depends on the amount of comments...it will be a minimum of 3

The rules are the same for both:

#1chance-- PLEASE comment--on how I did in setting up my blog for this blog hop and my cards. (if your comment does not cover these items, it will not count)
I'd love for you to become a follower, but I will not make you.

For a #2 chance...visit the OPERATION WRITE HOME  blog, watch a video and come back and tell me about it.

For a #3 chance...visit the STARS n STAMPS blog, check out any of the past tutorials, and come back and tell me what tutorial you viewed.

I forgot to say I'll be drawing names Monday evening after 9pm est.(so that will be the cut off time for commenting)

Your blog looks great, I really like the digi card it's super fun. The other card is really cool. I never saw that in a stamp and it's really neat. Have fun hopping thank you for supportin OWH!

Susan, I think your blog is set up great. Love the creative way you showcased your write-up! Keeps you focused.

Your first card is so dang cute, it made me chuckle and I love the off-center gate card. Your second patriotic card makes you stop and remember the horror of 9/11 and the loss of all those lives. And your third card says it all -- Thanks to all the men and women who make this country great.

Susan, the video on OWH about Mother's Day was awe inspiring -- made me tear up. Having been in the military and married to a retiree it brought back some of our own experiences. The music and words fit it so appropriately and seeing the men and women in the "homes" away from home made it all seem so much more real. Everyone across the country should see this one.

Susan, I watched the tuturial on making pansies by Darlene. Very informational and helpful. After the blog I'll be off trying these!

Susan
#1 the way you set up your blog was very easy to negoiate. Setting up my blog for the hop was the hardest thing I think I did this week.
#2 I watched the video of all the kids (plus one dog) seeing their heroes come home for the first time. That video just made me want to stamp, stamp stamp.
#3 oh shoot I forgot what #3 was. I'll be right back. Oh ya the tutorial. The pansy one was on top to I watched that one. It looks very easy but I don't have that punch I will need to use something else to try it out.

Great setup on you blog and how generous with your blog candy. Thanks for spreading awareness for OWH. I did not know of them until today! Lisa

I just love how you set your blog up. Your cards are great. I like how you did the gate fold off center and that bird image is so cute. I love the ribbon corners on the second card.

I couldn't view the vieos on the home page, but I went to their You Tube channel and watch a couple. I watched Sandy read some thanks yous from the heros and I watched the video of the heros sending love home to their moms for Mother's Day. What a tear jerker.

You did an awesome job on the blog hop today. I like how you did the ribbon on your gate-fold card. That is a fold I need to try out.

I watched the tutorial on making paper pansies using the SU butterfly punch. I will for sure be trying this out.

Hi Susan,

I love the way you set up your blog for the hop. Makes it easy to read...the various colors and different sections highlighted.

Your cards are awesome! I love that fireman stamp!

Your blog candy is awesome! Oh my, sure wish I had known about this hop so I could have joined to make cards for our fellow men and women.... and to be entered to win your fabulous blog candy (and so very generous of you.) and then to also give to those not in the hop itself. Wow!

I watched the OWH video.... showing our sevice people withe cards they received, and the tons and tons of cards that were made and ready to send over. One man held a thermometer that showed the temp of 120+ (oh my!)... great video and I plan on watching the others as well.

I will have to get involved with this for two reasons. 1) to let our service people know that I care and 2) because I need to get back to my card making.

Since I have never worked with Digis before I watch the video tute. I loved the way she paper pieced the heart together by printing also on red paper.

I'll have to go look at some more videos.

I watched Sandy's OWH bedtime story video. I watched the tutorial on making paper pansies. Everything with the OWH is great inspiration. Making cards for heroes is a humble way of appreciation for their service and my privilege. Thanks for your sharing and inspiring.

What a wonderful weekend and wonderful ideas and cards. Blog looks great and proud to be apart of OWH. Something I've never felt before either. Keep up the great work!

Love the sentiment you used. Thanks for posting on the hop, and thanks for making cards for our heroes!

You blog was easy to move around but quite honestly I found all the different colors of fonts a little distracting.

I like your cards - especially the fireman one and the Thank you card. I tend to go for the clean simple lines on cards.

I have watched the tutorials on pansies and the shirt folding.

The blog is awesome. I really like the grab you get when it loads with the photo. Great job.

You gate card is inspiring.

I love the Pansies Tutorial.

I can't seem to load the OWM videos but I will keep tring.

I love your blog banner, don't know the jargon. Your cards are inspiring. I have watched all the OWH videos, mailroom being very helpful. I just recently watched the paper pansy flower tutorial...a really good one.

Susan Hi...its cheryl from over at http://dontworrybescrappi.blogspot.com -I'm sorry my digis did not work for you...I had one other person say they didnt as well and I'd still love to give them to you via email so please email me at clkreider@bellsouth.net and I will send them right on. Also I do like your blog layout..its simple...I have the three column and I'm thinking of switching back to 2 because it does look somewhat cluttered. Also your cards are really nice...I love the fold and the paper on the first one! Take care and happy hopping!

I love your twist on the gatefold card, almost as much as I love the fab-o 'soldiers spell it out' banner you put up--what a great reminder of who we're stampin' for!

Wow Susan! You did such a totally awesome job on your blog! I'm so honored that you are in this hop and doing so much for OWH, especially since you just became involved with us after the last hop and I had a small part in encouraging you to join in! I don't tell you enough how much I love your wonderful creations, but they are absolutely stunning! I love all of these cards, but the one w/the firemen is my favorite. I had actually used this for my initial card for the hop, but I can't find it! aargh! I guess that tells you I have to clean up my mess! lol

I watch the tutorials & videos when they come out on the blogs & facebook, so I guess these extra choices are easy to me!

THANKS!!!!

grandmalee said...

I love so many of the tutorials, but probably the ones on flower making or coloring eyes would be some of my favorites (they're all GREAT!!!!)

Cheryl said...

I think you blog looks great. I love the picture at the top.

Your cards are wonderful and will really brighten some one's day.

Thank you for the tips on the songs. I don't have the one by Garth Brooks. I just listend on your player and now am all teary-eyed. I agree too many Americans still live like it is September 10, 2001 and the tragedy never happened.

grandmalee said...

I really love the viseo on the card parties. I've been reading & making copies of all of the stuff that OWH offers to make these events run smooth, but the tutorial really gets you inspired to do it NOW! I'll be having my own real soon!

Thanks again Susan for all that you do! Please don't overdo it & mess up your heath more. Drop me a line & let me know how you're doing...any news on the other diagnosis? Your still in my prayers!

You did a great job of setting up your blog! I like both your cards, but esp. the second one. Wonder if that image is still available? I do a lot of OWH cards and that would be perfect. I also liked what you wrote. Freedom isn't free and we need to remember that and honor those that pay the price to keep us free. Thank you for supporting our Heroes and OWH.
THANKS ALSO FOR THE AWESOME PHOTO THAT HEADS YOUR BLOG!!!

On Stars and Stamps the most recent tutorial I saw a day or so again was on how to make really nifty pansies from a butterfly punch! Have to try that.

Since you have comment moderation going I can do this, since this one shouldn't be counted for the candy draw (it's my 4th post) but I'm an idiot and forgot to tell you thank you for offering such patriotic and generous blog candy!!!
Thank you for your support of OWH and our Heroes
