Altered Art thursday

Hello, I am going to try again to share an image with you from ALTERED PAGES

Make something with this image and link in into a comment on this post. I will pick a random winner to receive the entire collage sheet it came from.

Here is the image:

Here are 2 ATC's for this newest Lottery on ARTchix sister yahoo group, the theme is "Gothic"

Lots of different images and embellishments from several places, but the main images are from ARTchix collage sheets and the German scrap is from ARTchix. I also used Ranger's distress crackle glaze on one of them.

Hope you like'em!

Scrappy Sunday--some close-ups

ok so here are some close-ups of the scrapbook that I shared with you. My great-niece's sweet 16 party (5 years ago) (links to the posts with the full pages are at the end of this post)

This pom-pom fancy fiber looks great but is a PITA to work with, the pom-poms totally unravel while working with it. I was given over 2 yards, by the time I was done I had enough for the drape on the title page of the album, and about 16 inches left.
Hard to tell but the brads used on the title page are black velvet.

I know this is blurry, but I was trying to show that the brads through the double flowers are glitter brads.

Fancy pants designs chipboard flourishes I painted with the closest green I had in the house.

I Love these ticket letters by EK Success and also wanted to show that I used cat eye fluid chalk on the edges of the flowers.

See I actually used string on the Balloons.

Gotta love a good white gel pen!  all the balloons and the Party time were cut out on a cricut (at a crop, I do not own one)

Flower paper piecing made by a woman at the same crop, she went around and gave everyone a choice out of the bag...we were in the last section, not a lot left in the bag but this was cute, and it worked.

Chipboard "gift" by Bazzill, I used sharpies on it to match the paper, and the word gifts, is from those "older" alphabet punch out sheets.
The zoom in here is for the "sheetrock" tape I used and the bow, but another of the paper piecings from that lady (my friend gave me hers) on a journaling square.
Same 2 page layout, stickles on butterfly bodies, sheetrock tape, bows with fancy fiber and a metal tag that says journaling and organza ribbon.

close up of the pre-designed chipboard pieces from K & co. (I think) it was a huge stack. I wrote inside with Gel pen, see my design runner in action along side of it.
Again, use of my xyron design runner hand-held printer. I left a lot of little tags and chipboard pieces on this 2 page layout for her to journal on.
This is the center of the back page. (set up for her to list things, ie. who was present. how they got her there, what gifts she rec'd etc) I used these 2 great stamp sets from Autumn leaves. I put the big tag one in the center and used some of the flower/flourishes from the other set around it.  I used sharpies and stickles to color them in.

September 11, 2010--- 9/11/2001

I remember as a child, on our drives to Jersey City to see relatives watching out the window as the "Twin Towers" were being built. I remember the pride in my father's voice as he pointed it out every time to me. Warning: the Below images may upset some.

Do you remember? Where you were? What you were doing? How you felt? How you felt in the days that followed?

I TOTALLY remember. I remember thinking is this some kind of a drill (after one plane but before the second) I was on the internet, and also then put on the TV.  How Horror-struck I was. I was then glued to the television for the next 10 days or so. Almost 24 hours a day.  I swear I had survivors quilt, as many others probably felt. I couldn't stop crying. To the point that my husband, kept telling me to shut the TV off.

I am focusing on NY and the WTC because it had the largest loss. Do you know there are still 1,125 people missing, that NOTHING was ever found of?

I can NOT even begin to imagine the choking, the heat, the pain, the fear that these fellow Americans were feeling. Can you you even try to imagine how BAD it was, that so many chose to jump to their deaths?

They surely had to know that it would be a quicker way to go, and on THEIR terms. SO Horrifically Tragic!!
soooo many. sooo terrible a loss.
and then they came down, the rest of the people in a steel and stone grave.
SO Many came from all over the country, and also from around the world to help and support. To look for the missing, which were in the thousands. Additionally, for a long while to come, we Americans were numb, but also united.

The clean up is done, but sadly no one has learned anything. We are not numb, we are becoming complacent again, and we are no longer united. WE NEED TO REMEMBER, TO FEEL IT again and to STAND UNITED.  YES, I agree there is evil in the world, but we need to show tolerance and love.  I say there should be a mosque, a catholic church and a protestant church, a jewish synagogue, a Buddist and hindu temple and other building representing other major religions in this country at ground zero. The true muslims did NOT do this.

I Hope you have not forgotten. Truthfully, I hope my post made you remember more clearly, and made you FEEL IT again.                                                                                I am a PATRIOT, and will NEVER forget.

Some Halloween cards for OWH

I made 12 Halloween cards for OWH, that were like a set, and then one odd one. (the witch I showed last week)

The ones that are like a set, are 6 using orange and 6 using purple Card Stock. the main cards are made from black Card Stock.
I used the steps corner punch and bent the corners back. I used a sizzix ghost and some epoxy stickers on each. All stamps are by Stampin' Up.  Black ink in Memento tuxedo black. Orange and Purple ink by Stampin' up. Images colored in with Sharpies. I also stamped a "Bingo" on each card. One the orange cards I used a purple bat stamp as the "Bingo dauber" and the purple cards I used an Orange wrapped candy stamp.

All the cards here were made the same way, just with different stamps, and bkgd. colors. They all also have one of  Jenni Bowlin's Holiday mini bingo cards.  the main color of them is kind of creamy light beige. SO I used "Old Paper" distress ink on my white paper before stamping the image on them. I them crumbled them up in my hand, scrubbed the sides with  a nail buffer (file) and then inked them with a sharpie.  For the green frames around both sets of images I used my deckle edge Rectangles Nestabilities both a large and a smaller size, one to cut one to emboss, which I did twice, it gave it a framed, and distressed look. I then inked the frames with the tuxedo black ink.  As you can see, using the "old Paper" distress ink on pure white paper made them the same color as Bowlin's bingo minis :)! These cards fulfill the September challenge over at Sir Stampalot's for distressing.(made on Sept. 1 mailed on the 2nd)
I really like how they came out, and wish I bought a couple more packs of the bingo minis, I would have made more cards!

Thursday--Altered Art (late)

Here are some items I've been working on the last few weeks.

you already saw my bird pages (get swapped)  here is the cover page I keep for myself.(This is the Maya Road Bird coaster book) BTW this bird cover as well as the pages from a couple of weeks ago, would fulfill Sir Stampalot's September's challenge for distressing, but the bird pages were actually made in August, so they do not count. However this cover bird does!:
here is the front :)
this one is more to show the shimmer and shine.

Here is the back :)
You probably noticed I put the wing on upside down on the back, I liked it better this way for how I used the all the mediums I used. I used sand paper. paint, ink, several different specialty and hand made papers, tar gel medium(mixed with the paint) Tattered Angels glimmer mists, chalk, some distress stickles, and obviously feathers.

Here are Altered Puzzle pieces, it is a swap I am hosting with BIG puzzle pieces from a kids game. each person will end up with 2 pieces that fit together in the same main color and theme. My themes to make were Orange/Halloween and Hot Pink/Rock n Roll, now there are 2 other artists, with the same color/theme to send to the lady(s) meant to get them.

I will be receiving 2 pieces from 2 different artists in White/Snow Day theme.

Ok here are mine:

I am showing several angles so you can see all that I added, epoxy stickers. Torn strips of Heavy hand made Black mulberry paper.

Some bling gems, and K& co. 3D paper bat stickers, tiny dot German scrap in purple. A brad and fancy ric-rac. The words "spells" and "sung" off an old scrap of wordy paper, a resin purple, green and silver witch. Lastly a scrap of orange with red scribbles on it paper for the Bkgd.

Here is the Rock n Roll one:

The Bkgd. paper is from DCWV Rock Queen Mat Stack. The border sticker I got in Mike's for a Buck, it is like felt or fleece and self stick.
The Guitar and Music notes bling is by Jolees. The other Bling is by Prima.

I raised up one of the hearts, and a skull and cross bones on foam tape.

I hope the recipient's like them. what do you think?
:)
