DAY 31- 31 Days of Halloween, the Countdown to Halloween, and the Real Witches of Halloween

Welcome to Day 31 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN
well it's over! It was Fun, Frantic, Frustrating at times, Full of Fantastic Creations by our Forum Family and now we can Forget about it until next Fall!!   (like my Alliterations?)

Today's Halloween funny:

Today's creation was supposed to be for SBS's 12 days of Halloween, which I thought I had to today to upload. NOPE! I'm aggravated about that, my own fault for not reading, just "assuming" But I fell asleep last night, without having my other thing finished, and I felt like crap and I had a rough night and I still feel like crap so here it is, and I am also going to share two stamped candles that were epic fails! I made one week one(skull) and one week 2.  I will definitely be seeing a doctor later.
here's my 4 X 4 for 10 ghouls a groaning:
It's a scan, so because of the beads we have crappy contact.
paper-PINK PAISLEE, Girl-witch--CTMH (Halloween Dingbats)
masked and stamped 10 times, and then the ten were cutup to fit. "GHOULS just wanna have fun" stamp $1 from MICHAEL'S.
glitter foam stickers- CREATOLOGY. Red Shimmer half beads- MAKING MEMORIES.

I have made candles so many times I do not know what I did wrong that these smeared so.
I used embossing ink and EP on waxed paper.
Skull and Flourish stamps is from BLOCKHEADS STAMPS and the Kooky Spider wheel is by STAMPIN'UP. The Skull candle will be used tonight as my Samhain candle, and the spider will become an emergency candle. (I am showing you the BEST sides)

I wish you all a HAPPY HALLOWEEN a BLESSED SAMHAIN, and a GREAT week!!!
I'll be here on and off, but I am pretty much gonna be visiting other blogs for the rest of this week, and tallying up comments on my days 1-15 and 16-31 for my 2 giveaways for the 31 days.
To my fellow wicked bloggers, you'll see me on the forum!
XOXOXOXOXOX
Susan

DAY 30- 31 Days of Halloween, TODAY IS MY DAY for the Real witches of Halloween

Welcome to Day 30 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN, as well as day 30 of the COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN, and Day 30 of THE REAL WITCHES OF HALLOWEEN. Today is my day! scrolldown to below my creation

Today's Halloween funny:
Today's creation is something I started in week 1 :)

paper mache witch hat from Michael's
it has matte gray, matte light purple, glossy black and metallic blue paint. I used the Flying Skull from Dead Necessities stamp set by BOMBSHELL STAMPS, stamped in silver and embossed in silver. I stamped the Bat from the Best Fiends stamp set by STAMPIN' UP in black, and then went over it with a fine tip sharpie. I then put one coat of glossy MOD PODGE over the gray and purple strips. I added bring to the black stripes.

here's a few shots:

Today is My day for
The REAL WITCHES of HALLOWEEN.
I am not talking about anything witchy per-say. I am talking about making some of your own magic. When my children were growing up, until they hit about 6 or 7th grade I always made their costumes. I NEVER used a pattern. Some I made by having the kids lay on the floor on top of big thin cardboard (hubby would get it off pallets from the PO) or Paper from the rolls at school...they liked me, LOL
I would trace roughly around their bodies...wrist up to neck over to other wrist, up both arms into the armpit area, and down both legs on the outside for dresses and including the inseam for pants...when I traced this line I made it anywhere to 2-4" bigger all around, especially depending on the body part. I always scoured through the thrift stores for fabric or curtains and sheets i could cut down...sometimes I just used thrift store clothing...one year my daughter was a bride, as I found a very petite old wedding gown. I made her a veil out of sheet curtains that had applique work on them I sewed it to a shoulder pad and a hair comb.
One of the outfits I made using my "make your own pattern" thing was I made the 2 girls medieval princesses. I made 2  identical style dresses per girl...one was the solid color under neath (yellow for the oldest and blue for the youngest) and then another dress the same shape with the bell sleeves and all but out of sheer printed fabric, so it had a chiffon-y kind of look to it. I bought 2 old pair of shoes in the thrift store and sprayed one gold and one set silver, and I made Cone hats, sprayed to match the shoes. I stapled elastic to the cone so it would stay on their heads. I had pieces of the fabric streaming for the top of the cones. My X provided me with plastic dowels from his job that I turned into wands (septors).  My son was made into a king from the same era. He wore 2 pair of long johns the outer pair was navy blue I bought him a turtleneck to match and picked up a royal blue short sleeve crepe "shell" as my mom would call it from the thrift store I rolled up the sleeves and stuffed them with poly-fill and stitched on pieces of coordinating blue fabric in a diamond pattern around the puffy part of the sleeves, then belted this shirt over his torso, it hung low and looked like a doublet. I found an old fake fur jacket and I cut that apart, made a mantle for his shoulders and pinned it in front with an old brooch and I used fabric, cardboard and some of that fur to make a crown, the fabric actually covered the top of his head and was hot glued all the way around  the cardboard. I ran a strip of the fur all along the bottom of the crown. I bought a back of gems from the craft store in the neighborhood and glued them on all the points of his crown.

Unfortunately I can not get at any of these photos right now but I will share one from when they are a bit older.  My oldest was NOT living with me at the time, she was living with my X, trust me she would have never been allowed to dress that way from my house.
Tom is dressed like a goth...we bought him a belt and matching color in south Philly (I was living on campus this particular year) Amanda is a hippie, and this was my magic...I found this old crepe dress in the thrift store it was cream with brown trim and a bit stained here and there. I had learned a neat arty trick while with GS which is to soak your garment, really wet. while wet start at the top and drizzle fabric paint in  complimentary or coordinating colors. drizzle some further down depending on the size of the garment.
then just twist it up a bit wring just a little. then hang outside the water will drain down and out of the fabric thanks to gravity, it will pull the paint with it. making a cool design, like tye-dye, but not. so i did that with this dress, bought some cheap bead necklaces in the thrift store and hippie style boots, she asked for a peace sign on her face. and she wore pigtails.
their ages in this picture --April-17, Tom- 13, Amanda-12. Halloween 1999

I have tons of Halloween costumes under my belt...I love when I made my oldest a "Book worm" in kindergarten.  she wore all green top, pants tights etc. I lucked out and found a red beret. I took a cardboard box, cut the bottom out totally, cut holes for her arms and head, and then painted it to look like a book. She wore glasses, so this was cool for her.

REAL WITCHES make MAGIC everyday!

DAY 29- 31 Days of Halloween, Countdown to halloween, Real witches of Halloween

Welcome to Day 29 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN, as well as day 29 of the COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN, and Day 29 of THE REAL WITCHES OF HALLOWEEN.

Today's Halloween funny:

Today's creation was made especially for my "Halloween" Blog Parties...I have 4 plates,4 mugs and 6 skull goblets. I will try again next year to get 2 more cups and plates (in good condition)
Not bad for the dollar store! the goblets I got after Halloween at Party City for 50% off (along with lots of other goodies --sadly due to me being sick you won't be seeing many of the items. I am not even sure you will see me in my new witchy socks, cape, wig and hat--but there is always next year).
ON with the stamping.

All the stamps are clear $1 dollar stamps that a friend picked up for me in Joann's. I used White staz-on ink and my hand, instead of a block for the bends and curves. I caught some edges, and one or 2 slid but overall I like how they came out. The web and spider is one set, spooky came with the ghost used on the mugs below. The Bat came with a few little other stamps.
The mugs are stamped on both sides with a tombstone, clouds, moon and raven--one stamp. then in between I stamped the ghost from the spooky set above.
Stay tuned for my "Witches Tea Party Under a Halloween Moon" post coming up next.

I may enter these somewhere:

DAY 28- 31 Days of Halloween, Countdown to halloween, Real witches of Halloween

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN for the "HALLOWEEN PARTY" (hosted by A Fanciful Twist) post ( I also have a giveaway going on)

Welcome to Day 28 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN, as well as day 28 of the COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN, and Day 28 of THE REAL WITCHES OF HALLOWEEN.

Today's Halloween funny:

Well, it would seem I have a sinus infection, I've had enough to know the symptoms...I've kind of been thinking "if I don't admit it, it will just be a cold and go away"  NOPE!  full-on body aches and last night I woke a few times in a cold sweat etc.

so...here's today's creation:  $1 pencil cup from the dollar store, it is just stretched plastic/vinyl, whatever over a metal frame. I stamped all 4 sides with white stays on, and because I had to put my other hand inside to give it a semi firm surface while stamping, all my stamping slide a bit  :( UGH!  I think I might go over it all with a sharpie poster paint pen in white.  Funny thing is, I stamped this over a week ago, and the ink in spots still feels tacky. weird, right?

ok, I semi leaned it, on top of my address stamper, and then took one pic with 2 pens inside. ALL 4 stamps are from the $1 bin at Michael's over the last 2 years. I embellished it with some fun, elasticized wide sequence and fiber trim (rec as a RAK), using red line tape. Then added glitter foam spiders and pumpkins by CREATOLOGY.

Due to the stamping being so bad, I'm not entering this anywhere. I hope you all aren't too disappointed.

This WAS NOT originally going to be in the "use pile", because of the stamping. I am just too sick. I have one other large project almost done. and then 2 more I have to come up with. HOPEFULLY, 1 will be a coffin.

Today's Halloween funny:

Today's creation is pretty simple

TADA!!! a puzzle:) ... "This BOOquet's for you!"

I used FIBER SCRAPS E Z STAIN Walnut Ink, covered the whole puzzle, once dry I used a border stamp from AUTUMN LEAVES, and then the Dracula from the "Best Fiends" stamp set by STAMPIN' UP, and the sentiment from the "Just Between Fiends" stamp set also by STAMPIN' UP. I used my BIC Mark Its! the Puzzle size is 4" X 5.5"

EDIT: I was asked if it is a real puzzle, so here are 2 more pictures.

Hope you like it :)

DAY 26- 31 Days of Halloween, Countdown to halloween, Real witches of Halloween

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN for the "HALLOWEEN PARTY" (hosted by A Fanciful Twist) post

Welcome to Day 26 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN, as well as day 26 of the COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN, and Day 26 of THE REAL WITCHES OF HALLOWEEN.

Today's Halloween funny:

Today's creation is and will continue to be a work-in-progress, as it is, once again my Book of Shadows. The last page I showed you was the inside of the front cover. this is the facing page. In many books this is left blank, but not in a journal, not in a diary and certainly not in a BOS. You can click on any image to make it a bit bigger.

The book has 8.5" X 11" pages, so this background paper that is already printed with a pretty pink (almost magenta) border and mostly gray spider webs, some black web, black spider and hanging web line and 2 black candles is 12" X 12". I cut the paper down and fit it around the stamped image.
The stamp is "Beatrix" one of the "Steampunk Halloween" collection from SIMPLY BETTY STAMPS. I paper pieced her skirt, cape, pumpkins, and the cover of her BOS. Then I colored the rest in with PRISMA COLOR pencils, 2 thin tip sharpies (one is flesh tone, and the other very pale pinks...hands and face) and BIC Mark its! for her hair & book pages. I goofed on part of her cape, and accidentally cut if off, so I had to piece it back in.Again the pencil was a perfect match to the paper, but here it appears blue. :(
Ink on dark purple paper is tough! LOL

The paper used for piecing was from the same Seasons and Holidays pad by CLOUD 9 that I have been using, the candle paper is by DCWV (Midnight Spells Pad)
Once again, I had real issues with the purples...Her blouse is a lovely light lilac that goes so well with the deep purple of the skirt and cape, and I colored the upper part of the cape in and out of her hair with a perfectly matched pencil, but here it looks blue. UGH!!! I tried editing them to make them more "purple" and all that did was turn the bkgd. reddish. I gave up.
Once I was done piecing and coloring "Beatrix" I started putting the paper back together as best I could without making it look really bad. I wanted both candles in and as much of the border as possible. I then took a fine line black sharpie and connected lines from the mis-matched webs that were already on the paper. Then I started "doodling" things into the web have have something to do with Witchcraft, or Wicca or Paganism. I do not consider myself, Wiccan, more of a Neo-Pagan.
Anyway, then I used a silver sharpie to highlight spots around Beatrix's dark colors, and the candles. The spider seemed to get lost in the mix, so I did his hanging web and outlined his body
I plan on listing the other "Sabbats" and "Esbats" (Lunar cycled Holidays and equinoxes)somewhere in the web, as well as other appropriate items that should be noted in a BOS.
I am thinking I might add yellow-into-orange stickles on the candle flames, what do you think?

Today's Halloween funny:

Today's creation is a card, a large square card to be precise.

Card stock by STAMPIN' UP, Background papers both by MY MIND'S EYE, the haunted house is enamel embossed and glittery, the picture below gives a good look.  The little witch is a digi image from RICK ST. DENNIS. I used BIC Mark Its! to color, and made the path from her house. The digi sentiment is from TLC CREATIONS. The muted orange flowers are from PRIMA MARKETING. The blue flowers are variegated silk ribbon, that I made into flowers myself, and tied a bow out of a piece under the top flower.
This card opens from the bottom up.

DAY 22- 31 Days of Halloween, Countdown to halloween, Real witches of Halloween

Welcome to Day 22 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN, as well as day 22 of the COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN, and Day 22 of THE REAL WITCHES OF HALLOWEEN.

Today's Halloween funny:

Today's Creation:

once again the main object for this creation I was just in the right shop at the right time, these wooden pumpkins were in a baggie at the same thrift store that I  got that red cedar Plaque the other day, I got all of this plus more one shopping day back in August. Anyway, all 4 pumpkins were only 75 cents...brand new unused wooden ornaments.
First I gave them one coat of Gesso, then 2 coats of orange paint. Once dry I used my black Staz-on ink and I stamped BOO! with the Headline Alphabet by STAMPIN' UP, the web from Web Wishes, the bat or spider both from Best Fiends, both sets also from STAMPIN' UP. Then on the other side I used a Black SHARPIE and drew on my own Jack-O-Lantern faces. The Hubster bought me tiny screw in eye hooks, which I had a hard tome with, they actually shipped away a bit of wood on two of them, and I had to glue it back on.  These are kind of thin, I am not sure if there was a smaller set at Ace, but, they worked out ok, over all. so there is one on the tops coming out of the stems (that is where I had the issue) and coming out of the bottom. Then I used hemp and orange and green pony beads...I had wanted to use black, but when  I wen to the very old bead container from when my girls were younger and made friendship bracelets etc. there was only 2 black, and 3 of that kind of sparkly charcoal, so I had to go with green. The hubster, liked it, and actually said so when he came home from work and saw it hanging there. (other than me having to ask him how he liked it)
Hope you all like it!

Welcome to Day 20 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN, as well as day 20 of the COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN, and Day 20 of THE REAL WITCHES OF HALLOWEEN.

Today's Halloween funny:

Today's creations is a small bit of Decopage. I found this pre-carved and wood burned Red Cedar plaque in a thrift store for 50 cents.
I took a piece of white card stock and covered it well with FIBER-SCRAPS E Z STAIN walnut stain, and let it dry.
Then I stamped the DOTD Female in mourning stamp from BOMBSHELL stamps. I used Staz-on Ink, then I used my BIC Mark Its! to color it in. From the same stamp set(Growing Hearts) I stamped "The Heart Grows Fonder" in black staz-on above the image.
I trimmed it down a bit (like to the over all size of the plaque). Then I burned all around the paper with one of those grill-lighter things and stomped it out with a wet dish cloth. In places it burned a bit more than I wanted, but I think it came out nice anyway. Then I crumpled it up a few times. I used Matte MOD PODGE to glues it down, and to coat it.

Welcome to Day 19 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN, as well as day 19 of the COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN, and Day 19 of THE REAL WITCHES OF HALLOWEEN.

Today's Halloween funny:

For my creation today I have the 2nd set of my Haunted Houses. The idea behind this project was when you got the swap back you could make a banner out of all the houses. After Halloween, I share the ones I got back. All are awesome, but most were done more like a house shaped postcard or ATC, not actually like a house but the ones that were are superb! ok onto mine:
Again, I want to apologize for the glare, in some of these it is bad.
The "back door" 2nd story left window, and the long third story window are actually cut out.
above left--Owl charm, attic windows, spider and web in third floor window, web definition, small jack-o-lantern, glary skull in the second story window , and Masonite tombstone(has rock candy crackle paint on it) are all ARTchix STUDIOS. The Dracula Image, and the witch on the moon are from ALPHA STAMPS. Again I used Old Paper crackle paint by RANGER, and sharpies for accents, and the stamped web from STAMPIN' UP.
Above center--The owl charm, the lady gazing up at the moon, in the old building, the specter definition and the tiny wording, the glary cemetery angel head in the 2nd story window, and the witch in the back door are from ARTchix, The poison is from the RAKed collage sheet. The Cat image is from ALPHA STAMPS. I made the roof again with the crumpled tissue paper pieces and MOD PODGE, there is Rock Candy Crackle paint by RANGER on the woman gazing up at the moon image and the witch in the back door. The coffin stamp is by BOMBSHELL STAMPS, the dead necessities set.
above right--all images except for the "wording" is ARTchix, as well as the owl charm, and the Masonite door. The Raven stamp and the wording is from ALPHA STAMPS
Above left--owl charm and all images and wording are from ARTchix STUDIOS. I used Fired Brick crackle paint, sharpies and the web stamp from STAMPIN' UP. (image in the back door is a skeleton, as well as the large glary image)Fired Brick crackle paint accents this house.
Above center--the gold Key hole, jack-o-lantern,  glary witch in 2nd story window(has rock candy crackle paint on it), the bat (glary), wording, and skeleton in the back door are all ARTchix, the Ouija Board is from DEZINAWORLD. The coffin stamp is again, from Bombshell. This house has the tissue papered roof.
Above right-- Creepy doll head in 2nd story window, the siamese twin- bat girls(has rock candy crackle paint on it), antelope skull in back door and the Masonite door are all from ARTchix. "poison", wording, and black cat, and raven stamp are from ALPHA STAMPS,  the small image of the old witch tea party is from that RAKed collage sheet. I used Fired brick crackle paint on the roof and the door.
last house of the 7-- The "poison" and raven stamp are by ALPHA STAMPS. The creepy weeds, tombstone , spider in web, web definition, "boo", skeleton in back door, siamese twin-bat girls, and glary image (can't remember what it is ) are all from ARTchix STUDIOS. I used Rock Candy Crackle Paint by RANGER on the tombstone and the skeleton in the backdoor, and Old Paper crackle paint on the roof.
