Robyn's Fetish --challenge #127- Stitching, real or faux

Happy Kinda Sunny Sunday!  I have had a rough few days with my own pain, but a NICE visit with my mom. I went up and stayed overnight with her her 2nd night after breast surgery, and helped her shower the next day, took over her outer bandage and all. I am SO happy and proud that she changed her mind and had the mass removed. They aren't going to do anything else, and she sees the breast doc in 2weeks.  Mom turned 86 on the 21rst, she looks great and her incision looks great!!  Hubby will hopefully be starting PT and OT this week. I am SO happy and proud of him also for getting the brace, and it is helping immensely!
Once again, Thank you to all of you that sent well wishes etc!
****************************************************************

Now onto the card for this week  over at ROBYN'S FETISH challenge blog
we were to use some stitching , real or faux...I had to go with faux...I still am in need of a working machine, and my hands were not in a place to do hand stitching this week (which was my original plan)

Our Sponsor is
BUGABOO STAMPS
the winner will receive a $21 voucher to the store! WOW!!

I used Sunbonnet Thimble (sewsun)

Card stock for the card itself, ribbon and the markers are all STAMPIN' UP. The textured, slightly shiny card stock is  older and by MRS. GROSSMAN, The striped paper is new by MY MIND'S EYE. I used Stickles by RANGER on the needle and pins. The glitter buttons were rec'd as a RAK and the package says MICHAEL'S. I used decorative scissors to cut the image, sentiment and card stock. my tiny paper piercer to makes the holes all around the image, across the top and bottom of sentiment, and in the corners. I used my SAKURA Glaze pen in black for my stitching. Running stitch, hand stitch, and cross stitch.

Thanks for visiting!

Robyn's Fetish Challenge--Challenge #118...Christmas in July

Happy Sunday everyone!  We are going up to visit with my daughter and future SIL today and have dinner, I am very much looking forward to it! I hope you all have an enjoyable day!

This week over at
we are doing
CHRISTMAS IN JULY
which is sponsored by
and the winner will receive
3 DIGI STAMPS of their choice from the store!

I was going to choose one of her lovely cupcakes, but I knew a lot of the other DT would, so I went with
"JINGLE BELLS" it is a Bell and all the words to the song.

All card stock, printed paper, markers, and ink are
STAMPIN' UP
embossing folder by CUTTLEBUG.
Sentiment is computer generator (Happy Yuletide).
All ribbon is from my stash, some was bought in MICHAEL'S.
Metallic Gold Paint pen was used on the ribbon on the bell image and the bell.

The ribbon on the bell was colored with the same color marker as the main card stock (Handsome Hunter) for some reason it is looking more blue in the photos. I gave up trying, sorry.

I am glad you visited, thank you for your comments!

PLEASE play along with us this week at
with your
CHRISTMAS IN JULY creation!

part I winner for MY 31 days of Halloween & a card

:::Drumroll:::

out of all the comments from Oct. 1 to and including Oct. 15
I had 10 people comment 14 times (so that means if you were Horrifying Hoppers...you all missed 1 day somewhere)
Anyway, after making a spreadsheet in Excel...I got these 10 folks (there were also a handful with 13 and 12)
I wrote the names down, then had hubby rewrite the list in a mixed up order, and then i asked my son to pick a # from 1-10.

In order, List #1: Ike, Donna M, Monique, Jane, LdfDesign, Sharon Sahl, Steph, ScrapVamp, Kristina, and I don't do straight

List #2: Sharon Sahl, Kristina, Donna M, I don't do Straight, Scrapvamp, Ike, Steph, Monique, Jane, LdfDesign

the # my son picked between 1 an 10 was 6 .....which means ....IKE!!!! (Man gal, you are truly the queen of these 31 days!)

The winner for the second half of the month will be announced in a few days. (it is a lot of work, adding up all the comments) So you will be receiving a little Halloween goody from me.

Now for a Thanksgiving card.

I was lazy and scanned it.

card stock by STAMPIN' UP, printed paper by CLOUD 9, Ribbon from MICHAEL'S. Markers- BIC Mark Its!, Stamps by STAMPIN' UP (set-Thoroughly Thankful).

DAY 31- 31 Days of Halloween, the Countdown to Halloween, and the Real Witches of Halloween

Welcome to Day 31 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN
well it's over! It was Fun, Frantic, Frustrating at times, Full of Fantastic Creations by our Forum Family and now we can Forget about it until next Fall!!   (like my Alliterations?)

Today's Halloween funny:

Today's creation was supposed to be for SBS's 12 days of Halloween, which I thought I had to today to upload. NOPE! I'm aggravated about that, my own fault for not reading, just "assuming" But I fell asleep last night, without having my other thing finished, and I felt like crap and I had a rough night and I still feel like crap so here it is, and I am also going to share two stamped candles that were epic fails! I made one week one(skull) and one week 2.  I will definitely be seeing a doctor later.
here's my 4 X 4 for 10 ghouls a groaning:
It's a scan, so because of the beads we have crappy contact.
paper-PINK PAISLEE, Girl-witch--CTMH (Halloween Dingbats)
masked and stamped 10 times, and then the ten were cutup to fit. "GHOULS just wanna have fun" stamp $1 from MICHAEL'S.
glitter foam stickers- CREATOLOGY. Red Shimmer half beads- MAKING MEMORIES.

I have made candles so many times I do not know what I did wrong that these smeared so.
I used embossing ink and EP on waxed paper.
Skull and Flourish stamps is from BLOCKHEADS STAMPS and the Kooky Spider wheel is by STAMPIN'UP. The Skull candle will be used tonight as my Samhain candle, and the spider will become an emergency candle. (I am showing you the BEST sides)

I wish you all a HAPPY HALLOWEEN a BLESSED SAMHAIN, and a GREAT week!!!
I'll be here on and off, but I am pretty much gonna be visiting other blogs for the rest of this week, and tallying up comments on my days 1-15 and 16-31 for my 2 giveaways for the 31 days.
To my fellow wicked bloggers, you'll see me on the forum!
XOXOXOXOXOX
Susan

Welcome to Day 30 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN, as well as day 30 of the COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN, and Day 30 of THE REAL WITCHES OF HALLOWEEN. Today is my day! scrolldown to below my creation

Today's Halloween funny:
Today's creation is something I started in week 1 :)

paper mache witch hat from Michael's
it has matte gray, matte light purple, glossy black and metallic blue paint. I used the Flying Skull from Dead Necessities stamp set by BOMBSHELL STAMPS, stamped in silver and embossed in silver. I stamped the Bat from the Best Fiends stamp set by STAMPIN' UP in black, and then went over it with a fine tip sharpie. I then put one coat of glossy MOD PODGE over the gray and purple strips. I added bring to the black stripes.

here's a few shots:

Today is My day for
The REAL WITCHES of HALLOWEEN.
I am not talking about anything witchy per-say. I am talking about making some of your own magic. When my children were growing up, until they hit about 6 or 7th grade I always made their costumes. I NEVER used a pattern. Some I made by having the kids lay on the floor on top of big thin cardboard (hubby would get it off pallets from the PO) or Paper from the rolls at school...they liked me, LOL
I would trace roughly around their bodies...wrist up to neck over to other wrist, up both arms into the armpit area, and down both legs on the outside for dresses and including the inseam for pants...when I traced this line I made it anywhere to 2-4" bigger all around, especially depending on the body part. I always scoured through the thrift stores for fabric or curtains and sheets i could cut down...sometimes I just used thrift store clothing...one year my daughter was a bride, as I found a very petite old wedding gown. I made her a veil out of sheet curtains that had applique work on them I sewed it to a shoulder pad and a hair comb.
One of the outfits I made using my "make your own pattern" thing was I made the 2 girls medieval princesses. I made 2  identical style dresses per girl...one was the solid color under neath (yellow for the oldest and blue for the youngest) and then another dress the same shape with the bell sleeves and all but out of sheer printed fabric, so it had a chiffon-y kind of look to it. I bought 2 old pair of shoes in the thrift store and sprayed one gold and one set silver, and I made Cone hats, sprayed to match the shoes. I stapled elastic to the cone so it would stay on their heads. I had pieces of the fabric streaming for the top of the cones. My X provided me with plastic dowels from his job that I turned into wands (septors).  My son was made into a king from the same era. He wore 2 pair of long johns the outer pair was navy blue I bought him a turtleneck to match and picked up a royal blue short sleeve crepe "shell" as my mom would call it from the thrift store I rolled up the sleeves and stuffed them with poly-fill and stitched on pieces of coordinating blue fabric in a diamond pattern around the puffy part of the sleeves, then belted this shirt over his torso, it hung low and looked like a doublet. I found an old fake fur jacket and I cut that apart, made a mantle for his shoulders and pinned it in front with an old brooch and I used fabric, cardboard and some of that fur to make a crown, the fabric actually covered the top of his head and was hot glued all the way around  the cardboard. I ran a strip of the fur all along the bottom of the crown. I bought a back of gems from the craft store in the neighborhood and glued them on all the points of his crown.

Unfortunately I can not get at any of these photos right now but I will share one from when they are a bit older.  My oldest was NOT living with me at the time, she was living with my X, trust me she would have never been allowed to dress that way from my house.
Tom is dressed like a goth...we bought him a belt and matching color in south Philly (I was living on campus this particular year) Amanda is a hippie, and this was my magic...I found this old crepe dress in the thrift store it was cream with brown trim and a bit stained here and there. I had learned a neat arty trick while with GS which is to soak your garment, really wet. while wet start at the top and drizzle fabric paint in  complimentary or coordinating colors. drizzle some further down depending on the size of the garment.
then just twist it up a bit wring just a little. then hang outside the water will drain down and out of the fabric thanks to gravity, it will pull the paint with it. making a cool design, like tye-dye, but not. so i did that with this dress, bought some cheap bead necklaces in the thrift store and hippie style boots, she asked for a peace sign on her face. and she wore pigtails.
their ages in this picture --April-17, Tom- 13, Amanda-12. Halloween 1999

I have tons of Halloween costumes under my belt...I love when I made my oldest a "Book worm" in kindergarten.  she wore all green top, pants tights etc. I lucked out and found a red beret. I took a cardboard box, cut the bottom out totally, cut holes for her arms and head, and then painted it to look like a book. She wore glasses, so this was cool for her.

REAL WITCHES make MAGIC everyday!

DAY 28- 31 Days of Halloween, Countdown to halloween, Real witches of Halloween

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN for the "HALLOWEEN PARTY" (hosted by A Fanciful Twist) post ( I also have a giveaway going on)

Welcome to Day 28 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN, as well as day 28 of the COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN, and Day 28 of THE REAL WITCHES OF HALLOWEEN.

Today's Halloween funny:

Well, it would seem I have a sinus infection, I've had enough to know the symptoms...I've kind of been thinking "if I don't admit it, it will just be a cold and go away"  NOPE!  full-on body aches and last night I woke a few times in a cold sweat etc.

so...here's today's creation:  $1 pencil cup from the dollar store, it is just stretched plastic/vinyl, whatever over a metal frame. I stamped all 4 sides with white stays on, and because I had to put my other hand inside to give it a semi firm surface while stamping, all my stamping slide a bit  :( UGH!  I think I might go over it all with a sharpie poster paint pen in white.  Funny thing is, I stamped this over a week ago, and the ink in spots still feels tacky. weird, right?

ok, I semi leaned it, on top of my address stamper, and then took one pic with 2 pens inside. ALL 4 stamps are from the $1 bin at Michael's over the last 2 years. I embellished it with some fun, elasticized wide sequence and fiber trim (rec as a RAK), using red line tape. Then added glitter foam spiders and pumpkins by CREATOLOGY.

Due to the stamping being so bad, I'm not entering this anywhere. I hope you all aren't too disappointed.

This WAS NOT originally going to be in the "use pile", because of the stamping. I am just too sick. I have one other large project almost done. and then 2 more I have to come up with. HOPEFULLY, 1 will be a coffin.

Thanks for visiting :)
