Poisoned Peas Please Challenge #6 Dark FairyTales

This month over at
we are working with wonderful Images by

The Theme is DARK FAIRY TALES!

I used Ike's Wonderful "Goldilocks and the 3 Bears"
I made a fat page (4 X 4)
Goldilocks' eyes are very intense, and I immediately thought about Mr. Spock and his mind meld, and movie people trying to hypnotize others. so that is what I did.
I made her eyes a glowing blue when I colored the image(PRISMACOLOR pencils and blending pencil)
The background and the "brain wash" image both came off the internet, and the brain wash image is actually a logo for a company in the UK...not sure what they do or sell. I printed that image out twice, and cut them out, glued one down flat and raised the other above it on foam tape.  I used copper metallic paint pen as a squiggle over each of the bears heads and as lines coming from Goldilocks' eyes. Then I made my computer generated sentiment "MIND CONTROL makes everything JUST RIGHT!"
I finished it off with copper German scrap in Gothic point, all around.

PLEASE join us over at

creation of your own!

E. A. Poe's Masque of the Red Death

Hello,

I recently watched
"The Masque of the Red Death"
starring Vincent Price,
not exactly what I expected.
I thought it was good, good and creepy, but more weird than creepy!

Anyway, continuing on with my collection Of Poe inspired fat pages (4 x 4) here is
The Masque of The Red Death.

The background is the Ballroom Digi by SASSY STUDIO DESIGN, Death is a Dig from SMEARED INK's "Death Cab" collection, the sentiment, and the masked figure are rubber stamps from SMEARED INK'S "As Death" All are colored with PRISMACOLOR pencils, including metallic gold and silver --windows, chandaliers, hair and fringe of the masked figure. I used starlight stickles by RANGER on the chandaliers, and the word "death" and the masked figure  are raised on pop dots.

TRUE BLOOD is BACK!

I LOVE the HBO series TRUE BLOOD
and was thrilled to see a challenge commemorating it's return over at
HAUNTED DESIGN HOUSE.

So I made just a little something utilizing what I happened to have on hand, which is a funerary urn stamp. I tried to turn it into a crystal urn to hold "Talbot" bloody remains.

I also wrote a small poem to go with it, spoken in the voice of Russell Edgington.
The middle stanza is paraphrased from William Shakespeare's MacBeth....I did give that credit on the bottom.

So this is a 4 X 4 (or fat page or chunky page) with a pocket.

Card stock, ink and word window punch by STAMPIN' UP, Embossing folder by CUDDLEBUG, Funerary urn stamp by STAMPFRANCISCO, Corner stamp by BOMBSHELL stamps. Red EP by SPARKLE and SPRINKLE. Holographic EP by STAMPENDOUS. Thin Black pen by FABER- CASTELL. German Scrap by ARTCHIX STUDIOS. Poem by ME!

The Poem says:

True Death

My TRUE love, Talbot
Entombed in Crystal
Silent sobs catch in
my dry breath.

*Our yesterdays have lit
the way to dusty death.
Signifying nothing.
Sayeth MacBeth.*

I will mourn you
with a vengence
until the day of m
my own TRUE death.
S. Guzy ©6/2012
*paraphrased from MacBeth; V,v

Poisoned Peas please--Wicked Step-Mother challenge # 3

Hello all you happy Poisoned Peas!
It is WICKED Step-Mother month at the POISONED PEAS PLEASE Challenge blog

I hope you'll join us in the fun! Our terrific sponsor for the Wicked-Step mother challenge is
Delicious Doodles! Teri has YUMMY Digital images!!
(I am not sure what the prize is, but it will be great)

I used Cloaked Lady
This is a Fat page (4 X 4)
The background paper is Old computer stationary...I knew it would be perfect for this!
I drew in my own bark, and knot holes etc on the tree (which does not look that orange IRL.
On the inside edge of the page I used a woven strap, as the drawing is just part of the tree it drops off, like it should be framed and on a card that would be cool, but for this I had to improvise. on the outside Edge I used German scrap from ARTchix STUDIOS. The sentiment is computer generated. The lady and tree are colored with PRISMACOLOR pencils and blending pencil.

I hope i have inspired the WICKED in you. :)
Thanks for visiting!

The Pit and the Pendulum

Today I made another fat page for my Poe book.
I watched Vincent Price in The Pit and The Pendulum.
Then designed my plan from the Movie!
This is the Challenge this fortnight over at

Here is my entry!!
I think everyone else probably went with a pendulum, and I thought about making a swinging one to have in front of this, before I had the whole design in my mind, but I decided against it. I like being different. :)
So I went with the main torture room, and the sitting iron maiden, that dear Elizabeth gets locked in
and left forever, and her previous "Wall of Internment"
and from the Pit/Pendulum room the creepy reapers on the wall.

it is a combination of painting, paper, digi stamp, rubber stamps and hand drawing.
Paper -I believe it is older BASIC GRAY, Brick wall stamp by LAYERS OF COLOR, Flying skull stamp by BOMBSHELL STAMPS, The Criss-cross stamp is by SMEARED INK
(from the Quoth the Raven set). Scared Eyes is a digi stamp by SMEARED INK.
Black and gray paint for the reapers, fine line black sharpie also,
and red stickles by RANGER for the eyes. The sharpie used to make the name plate and her name,
with copper stickles. Copper paint pen for a cut in view of Elizabeth's fear inside the iron maiden.
SHARPIE white poster paint pen for skull, and silver paint pen for the wings.
STAMPIN' UP markers for the flesh and eyes of Elizabeth.

Hope you like my take on The Pit and the Pendulum!

GOOD NEWS & another E A POE Fat Page

Hello, Happy Hump day!

My Mom is going home today from the hospital! YEA!!
It is supposed to get warm here again for the next few days! YEA!
I clipped the grand dog, yesterday (mostly...I have work to do on his feet (he hates that)! YEA!!
I am cooking pork chops tonight! YEA!!
and the really big news....
My oldest daughter came over last night and stayed talking to me all night(I wasn't so happy about not getting any sleep) It was awesome that we spent some time talking, another chance at mending our relationship! YEA!!!!

now for a bit of mixed media/abstract-ish art:
My next fat page in a Edgar Allen Poe Series...this one- "The Black Cat",
I call this piece "Warped"

This first picture allows you to see some of the shine

 Ingredients:
chipboard 4 x 4
background paper  by BASIC GREY (oxford)
Fibers from stash
Digi stamp: Cat cleaning it's face (paw is over the eye so appropriate! LOL) by TLC CREATIONS
Rubber stamps: Hour Glass by ALTERED BOOKS, Gothic Corner by BOMBSHELL STAMPS, Head (from the full bust of E A Poe) by SMEARED INK, the word "Warped" by a recently defunct company in the UK (I can't think of their name right now)
Ink by STAMPIN' UP, ENCORE, and VERSAMARK
Embossing powders by STAMPIN' UP, STAMPEDOUS, and SUZE WEINBURG
How I did it:
stamped cat on white card stock, drew in the ripped out eyeball and blood, cut around the top of the cat and trimmed the sides of the card stock a bit. attached it to the 4 X 4, inked the head only of Poe, and stamped it on, inked warped and stamped it on, inked the hour glass and stamped it on, Inked the gothic corner with metallic pigment ink, and embossed with Copper EP-(upper left, lower right)
Then i tapped versamark ink all over the entire 4 X 4, I had a mixture of Clear utee with some silver, red and black reg. EP mixed together, i dumped all of it on (it wasn't a lot) shook it around and then pressed down all over with my fingers to make sure it all stuck good. shook and tapped off lightly the excess.
heat melted it with my heat gun. it is very lumpy and shiny! (the next picture shows this)
After it cooled I took a black and red sharpie, and just redefined some of the lines here and there for more distinction.
The picture below is the best VIEW, but the colors are more accurate in the last picture and the first 2 pictures.

just a quick piece of art

Something small I have worked on in between Mom and other stuff.
This is for the challenge this week over at SMUDGY ANTICS.

The theme is RED HOT!

I made a 4 X 4 (fat page/chunky page)

The flame image is from the internet. The Devilish Heart digi is from SMEARED INK. The Red foil Gothic point German Scrap is from COLLAGE STUFF. The 3D plastic black flourishes with rhinestone are Jolees for EK SUCCESS, the Red Ribbon Roses are from "Dollarama" and rec'd as a RAK. The letter stamps are TECHNIQUE TUESDAY. I colored the Devilish Heart with PRISMACOLOR pencils, and I used Red Stickles by RANGER on the words "Love, Red and Hot". It says "Love should be RED HOT always"
(NOW, I can really see hot bad  the lighting is in my Living room, as the photos clearly show places I missed withe pencils, LOL...Please let me get a "steady work area" so I can actually USE my Ott Lite! LOL)

Bloody Valentine Blog hop 2012, day 1

***Looking for MY CRAFTERS CAFE HOP??? scroll down one more post***

Hello and welcome to day 1 of The Bloody Valentine Blog hop sponsored by Smeared and Smudged! You should have arrived here from Jennifer's blog.  If you get lost along the way, or just stumbled upon this hop by visiting my blog, the entire list of Hop members is on the left. I suggest you start at the beginning, you'd don't want to miss anything :)

I have 2 offerings to share today. :) first up, scary, creepy, bloody!!

it is a  4 X 4 (chunky book page or fat page).
The background paper is a digi one, do not remember where I got it, it is printed on glossy presentation paper, after attaching it to the chipped board, I paint black paint around the edges and smeared what was left on the brush in the center, I let it start to dry and then with a wet paper towel wiped and smeared it, removing some. The Nosferatu Digi stamp is from STRANGE SKIN. he is colored with markers by STAMPIN' UP. The Sentiment and short poem is my own and computer generated. The flying heart is from an old free collage sheet , it is on the same presentation paper, and attached to white card stock to give it more stability. I fussy gut it, and applied foam dots to the back. The rick rack is from my stash.

Next up is a more funny/funky ODD Valentine card, depicting creation of a love potion.
Card stock by STAMPIN' UP, printed paper scraps are digi papers from PAPERTREY INK. The Digi Image is from THE STAMPING BOUTIQUE. It is colored with markers by STAMPIN' UP. The heart doily was rec'd as a RAK. I used 2 different scalloped circle punches by STAMPIN' UP.
The ingredients that will make the love potion are listed on the card: "Toe jam of the one you love", "frog's brain", and "Vampire Vomit". The flame on the bunson burner is very special as it is dragon fire!

This card is also helping promote The Crafters Cafe which is also having an event this weekend, and The Stamping Boutique is one of the sponsors.
