Robyn's Fetish --challenge #127- Stitching, real or faux

Happy Kinda Sunny Sunday!  I have had a rough few days with my own pain, but a NICE visit with my mom. I went up and stayed overnight with her her 2nd night after breast surgery, and helped her shower the next day, took over her outer bandage and all. I am SO happy and proud that she changed her mind and had the mass removed. They aren't going to do anything else, and she sees the breast doc in 2weeks.  Mom turned 86 on the 21rst, she looks great and her incision looks great!!  Hubby will hopefully be starting PT and OT this week. I am SO happy and proud of him also for getting the brace, and it is helping immensely!
Once again, Thank you to all of you that sent well wishes etc!
****************************************************************

Now onto the card for this week  over at ROBYN'S FETISH challenge blog
we were to use some stitching , real or faux...I had to go with faux...I still am in need of a working machine, and my hands were not in a place to do hand stitching this week (which was my original plan)

Our Sponsor is
BUGABOO STAMPS
the winner will receive a $21 voucher to the store! WOW!!

I used Sunbonnet Thimble (sewsun)

Card stock for the card itself, ribbon and the markers are all STAMPIN' UP. The textured, slightly shiny card stock is  older and by MRS. GROSSMAN, The striped paper is new by MY MIND'S EYE. I used Stickles by RANGER on the needle and pins. The glitter buttons were rec'd as a RAK and the package says MICHAEL'S. I used decorative scissors to cut the image, sentiment and card stock. my tiny paper piercer to makes the holes all around the image, across the top and bottom of sentiment, and in the corners. I used my SAKURA Glaze pen in black for my stitching. Running stitch, hand stitch, and cross stitch.

Thanks for visiting!

our lovely sponsor is
Bugaboo Digi Stamps
 The winner will receive
7, yes SEVEN free digis...
there are also some freebies, and a sale going on, so have some fun and look around!

You can create any type of craft or art you like, but it must be Goth/Emo.

Here is my offering
I used the MOON image from Bugaboo's Skelekinz collection.
The Goth/Emo part for me, in addition to the image is the very gothic looking paper from OCTOBER AFTERNOON. Also the colors I used. Teal, Purple, Lime, Black, and of course Red. it was so hard for me to get a picture close to the right colors. The flower is actually a dead-on match to the teal in the girl's bkgrd. The top ribbon is purple. All Card stock and markers are from STAMPIN' UP. Ribbons from my stash and the flower is from PRIMA MARKETING.

I hope you like it, and thanks for visiting.

PLEASE join us this month at

Robyn's Fetish Challenge #101- Cards depicting sports

Hello...I'm Late, I'm late...
SO SORRY....I have been basically a cripple since Saturday evening. Barely able to walk if you can call it that, my back was SOOO bad, and my legs also. I only got semi upright to eat, and only vertical to use the bath room since. I am not sure if it was from use...lifting and moving things...a bit more walking than usual, or if it is an FM flare...or both! In addition to the pain...I am weak all over, and feel so very fatigued.
The allergies aren't helping none either.  All of last week was rough, but this weekend, horrible.
Today is my first day on the computer, and even now...do not think I am staying long.
It is so beautiful out, I am hoping maybe later I will feel good enough to go sit out side for a short while.
I so HOPE you ALL are WELL and enjoying the LOVELY weather!

DAY 14- 31 Days of Halloween, Countdown to halloween, Real witches of Halloween

My post for ALL HALLOWS GRIM, which is actually 3 posts (3 parts of a story) is below this post.

Welcome to Day 14 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN, as well as day 14 of the COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN, and Day 14 of THE REAL WITCHES OF HALLOWEEN.

Last night I watched  "The Nightmare Before Christmas". though I always liked Sally and Jack, I was never the huge fan of the movie that my kids were. Granted, I never really only watched it once all the way through. Most of the time, I would only catch bits and pieces while the kids watched it. last night I had the "Mom AHA" moment, and say the message the movie gives. I told this to my son(25) he said, "No Mom, this is Tim Burton not Aesop's fables, he doesn't teach lessons."   I told him, "You're wrong, you just don't want to admit that a movie that is kind of freaky and you love could actually be giving you a message." he went upstairs without another word, LOL!  Here is what I got out of the movie last night.
Jack wants to be Santa Claus, he wants something different than what is his life. So he puts a master plan into motion to kidnap Santa, and to be Santa and have Christmas as his holiday. Sally tried to warn him, that it wasn't meant to be, but he ignores her. With Santa tucked away (with the boogie man unbeknownst to Jack) he rides off into the night with his skeleton reindeer, coffin sleigh and ghost dog (I love the dog). The toys (which were all built by monsters and freaks) he delivered are all "evil" basically, they attack the children he gives them too.  The police are after him, they shoot him down.
Ironically he lands in a cemetery (he is a skeleton, after all and therefore dead). While he begins to lament the loss of his dream, his plan, a funny thing happens. He realizes who he IS, and who he IS is who he IS SUPPOSED TO BE, and opens the crypt and crawls home to Halloween town. He rescues Santa therefore restoring the  Holiday and the "Balance of things".

The lesson here, be who you are, because when you try to be something you're not, problems occur. Things get screwed up.
...wizard of Oz anyone???

my creation today is for "Samhain" which is now in popular America; "Halloween"
it is a true statement. Samhain (pronounced Sow in) is the "Witches or Pagan new Year"  it is the time when the veil between the living world and the underworld (dead ancestors) is thinnest, and therefore people can counsel with their relatives.

"Heart of a Witch" tag
Digi Stamps used: Broken winged heart by SMEARED INK, Witch legs by BUGABOO STAMPS, and Witch hat by DOODLE DRAGON STUDIOS
I used a large manila tag, the kind Tim Holtz likes.
The paper is DCWV from the midnight spells stack, I thinned out gray paint and painted a large swatch diagonally across the tag. After it dried I sanded the edge  of the whole tag. Then I glued down , this very open weave straw stuff. then a piece of yellow paper doily border. Then in spots I used Old Paper crackle paint by RANGER, and Fired Brick crackle paint by RANGER.
The images were colored with BIC Mark its! I fussy cut the background from the legs, and glued the three pieces together, and glued it to the tag. then I used stickles by RANGER on the shoes, hat, sentiment(computer generated-Laughable font), wings and heart. The heart uses three different colors, as I put them on the different broken parts of the heart. I let the whole thing dry. Once dry I applied black Enamel accents by RANGER to the shoes and hat. Lastly I used my CROP-O-DILE to punch the hole through the paper matched up to the hole in the tag, and added a large eyelet and 6 different fibers.

WORLD CARD MAKING DAY!!!

scroll 1 post down for the first post of 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN, COUNT DOWN TO HALLOWEEN, and THE REAL WITCHES OF HALLOWEEN

Today, October 1rst is World Card Making Day, and I am celebrating with OPERATION WRITE HOME and also with PAPER CRAFTS MAGAZINE

We were to make a Christmas or Seasons greetings card. I made both, one is definitely going to OWH, the second one I am not sure yet, and I'll tell you why further down.

Here is my first card, as you can see it is pretty CLEAN and SIMPLE--CAS, which the folks at OWH prefer.

All products by STAMPIN' UP, everything BUT the stamp set is retired though. I had to use different red brads. (I taught this card to my daughter and some of her friends, and I used all the correct shade of red brads on their cards, so mom had to improvise, LOL!) The Kraft card stock base of the card opens from the bottom, I try to make some of the cards different from the normal straight, right to left opening.
The inside says:
"Warmest greetings of the Season
and every good wish
for the coming year."

The card you will see below, has GLITTER on it which is a MAJOR NO-NO for OPERATION WRITE HOME cards. As we all know  glitter loves to flake off and land on everything, this sparkly stuff can very well land on the uniform of an enlisted person and give away their location. WE DO NOT WANT TO DO THAT !!
Stickles and other glitter glues are ok, as the glue totally encases the glitter.
The glitter on the below cards, are actually foam stickers that came that way, and I have deliberately tried rubbing off the glitter to see what happens. So far, nothing has come off. I might run this past Sandy, but MOST LIKELY will NOT include it in my Christmas card box.

I would like to share with you why I support OPERATION WRITE HOME.
* I am a very patriotic person
* I am surrounded by veterans both living and passed on
*Initially out of HS I was supposed to go into the Air Force for Nursing, but circumstances kept that from happening
* I have always been a supporter of our service men and women, I THANK THEM, whenever I see one, wherever I see one! (You should also)
* Our enlisted troops have NOTHING to do with politics, you may not think they should be where they are, but they are where they are and need to know they are supported!
* I have always been a worker, always employed from the age of 15 on, in 2005 I became permanently disabled. I need a purpose, as my kids really do not need me anymore or the hubby (you know what I mean by need) so by making cards for OWH I am supporting our military personnel and I feel good about doing it.

I can not afford to donate  cash to anyone at this point in my life (though I always do include $5-$10 in with my card shipments) However OWH is running extremely low on funds for shipping these large boxes of cards overseas. We would love to have more card makers and would never turn anyone away, but we also need donations. Please consider clicking here to Donate to OPERATION WRITE HOME:

Here is my other card:

Card stock -STAMPIN' UP, printed paper- DCWV, border punch - MARTHA STEWART,
Markers- STAMPIN' UP, Glitter Foam stickers- MAKING MEMORIES
Digi Image- BUGABOO DESIGNS
sentiment- CORNISH HERITAGE FARMS
this angle you can see the foam.
 Thanks for visiting!!
